Allergy and Free From Show, Glasgow 2017

Oh my goodness, I had an absolutely brilliant day out at the Allergy and Free From Show at the SEC in Glasgow yesterday.

The face of a happy fodmapper.

With all of my diet changes being fairly recent, I’ve never been to anything like this before. I was very excited, and very impressed!  It was great to see (and sample!) a huge number of brands, some of which I recognised and some of which were totally new. I’ve seriously stocked up on things I do buy anyway because of the savings, and combined with all the freebies between the five of us we came back with quite the haul…

Ta da! Should be sorted for a while…

The highlights of the day for me were:

  1. Samples (of course)-  Most free-from products are fairly expensive and I’m reluctant to buy them without a recommendation. I usually start with the cheapest option, see if I like it, then try a different one the next time if not. We were absolutely inundated with free samples of free-from goodies- some tasty and some not so much! Along with all the freebies, I’ve come away with a list of products to buy in future. Bonus was that although not everything is fodmap friendly, the sample size portions weren’t enough to upset my sensitive tummy so I could even sample the new Tesco free-from ready meals. Living the free-from dream.17321336_10210816064730052_1476871008_n
  2. Discounts – I like to keep an eye on my spending by taking my lunch and snacks to uni/work. I managed to bulk buy a few of my weekly staples. The Nairns breakfast biscuits ended up being half price.
  3. Expert advice – It was very useful to be able to chat to people know their free-from stuff. In addition to everyone on their stands there were some cooking and baking demonstrations throughout the day too, as well as presentations. I missed the one about the fodmap diet but I’ll try to be better organised next time!

All sounds too good to miss? London and Liverpool have shows later in the year, as does Berlin and the link is here. Hopefully I’ll be visiting the Glasgow one again next year!
